Saidpur Airport, located in the Syedpur Upazila of Nilphamari district, is one of the oldest and most important domestic airports in northern Bangladesh. Originally built during British colonial rule, it was later developed for civilian use and has since become a vital transportation hub for the Rangpur Division. The airport is situated about 5 km from Saidpur town and serves the surrounding districts, including Nilphamari, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, and Rangpur. Operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), Saidpur Airport connects the region with Dhaka through several daily flights, primarily operated by local airlines such as Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US-Bangla Airlines, and Novoair. Due to the increasing demand for air travel in this region, expansion projects are underway to transform it into an international airport, with improvements in runway capacity, terminal facilities, and security systems. Saidpur Airport significantly contributes to regional development by facilitating trade, education, tourism, and emergency medical transport. With its strategic location and expanding infrastructure, it plays a critical role in reducing travel time between the capital and the northwestern part of the country, enhancing both convenience and economic integration.
